REAL Housewives Of New Jersey’s Dolores Catania revealed that her kids and ex-husband – whom she still lives with – all tested positive for Covid-19.
However, the Bravo star said she did not catch the virus after taking care of her sick family during Christmas and New Year’s.
Dolores, 50, explained that her daughter Gabrielle, 25, and son Frank Jr., 21, began feeling coronavirus symptoms on December 23.
She told PageSix that immediately after their kids began to feel ill, her ex-husband Frank Catania – who still lives with Dolores and the children – was diagnosed with the virus.
“I never got it; I couldn’t catch COVID if I tried. I took care of everyone who had it in the house,” she joked to the outlet.
Although she never felt sick, she took extra precaution and quarantined without leaving the house until January 3.
“I was exposed to it. It was in my house, so I had no right to go out and spread it just in case I had it,” she said.
Just two days before Christmas, Dolores said her daughter, Gabrielle, told her mom that “everything hurts me.”
“My head hurts. The [bedsheets] on my back hurt. My body hurts me,’ and I told her, ‘You got COVID.’”
“And then my son was coughing, and I’m like, ‘You too?!” she added.
When asked by the publication if she was scared of catching the virus, the protective mama bear responded: “No.
“Is a mother scared to take care of her kids when they have the flu? It’s my duty as a mother.”
The reality star went on to say her girl was determined to power through the illness while coming close to graduating medical school to become a veterinarian.
She told us that 25-year-old Gabrielle kidded that she couldn’t succumb to the illness because she’d just achieved her dream of passing the veterinarian’s exams.
“Gabrielle was like, ‘There’s no way in hell COVID is going to take me out… I’m graduating in May,” she said.
Dolores’ daughter took her December exams right before getting sick as she plans on graduating from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Massachusetts.
The RHONJ star and her ex-husband got divorced over 20 years ago when she ended their relationship after finding out about his cheating when she was nine months pregnant.
She previously explained how their unique living situation works given their drama-filled history.
“Now, it works because my resentment got thrown in the garbage. People used to say years ago, ‘You’re a fool. You go food shopping for him? Why are you doing this crap?’
“‘It’s foolish pride.’ But listen, I’ve got more bees with honey. Frank gave me more money.
“I didn’t do well in my divorce. I divorced an attorney… The nicer I was, the more I got,” she said.
She continued: “‘So, who was the fool? Who was the fool?’ – That’s what I say.
“That doesn’t work for everyone, but fighting never works [for me]. It’s an anchor, and holding a grudge and resentment is an anchor.”
