THE Moderna Covid vaccine can cause swelling in people with lip fillers, the FDA has warned.

A certified dermatologist in California said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory committee found a few trial participants to have experienced specific side-effects, ABC7 reported.
In response to the FDA’s findings, Dr. Shirley Chi said: “In these cases the patients all had swelling and inflammation in the area that was given the filler.
“A couple of the patients had cheek filler six months prior to their vaccine and one patient had lip filler done two days after the vaccine.
“All were treated with steroids and anti-histamines and all of their reactions resolved.”
According to Chi, reactions to the new Moderna vaccine are immunological.
She said: “Your immune system which causes inflammation is revved up when you get a vaccine, that’s how it’s supposed to work.
“So it makes sense that you would see an immune response in certain areas where they see some substance that is not a naturally occurring substance in your body.”
Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine was given an emergency authorization by the FDA on December 18.
The coronavirus shot is the second vaccine option as the Pfizer vaccine was approved for use by the FDA first.
Meanwhile, a top scientist with Operation Warp Speed has revealed the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine is causing more allergic reactions than expected.
Dr Moncef Slaoui said on Wednesday that the number of reactions – at least seven in the United States – is significantly more than what would be expected for other vaccines.
As of Wednesday, more than one million vaccinations have safely been rolled out in the US.
The doctor said there have been talks between the vaccine makers and the National Institutes of Health to figure out if they should run clinical trials of Covid vaccines with people who are very allergic to things.
Slaoui said a trial for people who, for example, carry EpiPens with them at all times due to severe allergies, could help understand what’s provoking the reactions.
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which Dr Anthony Fauci oversees, said on Monday that they will be investigating the reactions to the jabs.
Slaoui said of the study: “There is now advanced planning for a study in highly allergic individuals in clinical trials to test the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines and try to understand the immune mechanisms that are underpinning any reactions.”
As of earlier this week, at least seven people in the US have suffered reactions – both small and strong – after receiving Covid vaccines.
On Wednesday, Alabama’s state health department said someone who received Pfizer’s vaccine had a severe allergic reaction several minutes later but appeared to be recovering.
In Illinois, vaccinations of hospital workers were halted after four employees suffered adverse reactions.
In Alaska last week, a female health employee began experiencing “a probable anaphylactic reaction” about 10 minutes after receiving the shot.
Her symptoms included tongue swelling, a hoarse voice, and difficulty breathing – “traditional anaphylactic symptoms,” health officials said.
She received two doses of epinephrine at the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital emergency department and was discharged about six hours later, officials said.
