End mad hospital demos of sick yobs
OUR hospitals are already buckling under the strain of the latest Covid surge.
So the last thing hard-pressed NHS staff need is a mindless mob protesting outside their doors.
It is appalling that a young doctor finishing a punishing night shift should have to face a rowdy crowd baying “Covid is a hoax”.
Dr Matthew Lee said he was “heartbroken” that some Brits were still in denial about this deadly virus when it was taking so many lives.
His own hospital, St Thomas’ in central London, saved the life of Boris Johnson when the Prime Minister caught Covid last year.
We defend the rights of people to hold and express even the most bizarre beliefs.
But these Covidiots should be banned from spreading their bilge immediately outside hospitals.
Heath Secretary Matt Hancock rightly condemned the gathering as “completely unacceptable”.
And we applaud the call by former Health Minister Dan Poulter for the police to crack down on such protests.
It is bad enough that these crazed anti-vaxxers peddle their damaging fake news during demos.
But we cannot stand by while they intimidate doctors working tirelessly to save lives on the front line.

The economy would also take a hit as parents cannot go out to work if they have to look after their children.
As a top priority Boris Johnson must consider how to give teachers the jab so they can get back to the classroom in safety.
Otherwise kids and country face another crippling paralysis.
