The couple, who had undisclosed underlying health conditions, fell ill at the beginning of the month while on a family camping trip.

Speaking to Fox17, their daughter Sarah revealed the early moments of their illness.

“[My dad] called me before our family camping trip and said he wasn’t feeling good but he thinks it’s just like sinus, and [Linda] caught it and she’s like, he gave me his cold,” Sarah said.

“The third day they woke me up and said, ‘we’ve got to go because we don’t feel well.’ So I packed them all up and they left.”

Days later, both Cal, 59, and Linda, 66, were hospitalized and put on ventilators.

But by Sunday, doctors in the told Sarah that there wasn’t much more that they could do and that her parents would need to come off of life support on Monday.

“They had other plans,” said Sarah. “It was Sunday and dad’s like, ‘you know what? This is what we’re going to do today.’”

After Cal was wheeled into his wife’s room in the hospital, he passed away at 11:07pm.

And a minute later, at 11:08pm, Linda took her final breath while the couple held hands in hospital beds beside one another.

“She always joked and said ‘well, you’re going to go before I am, I’ll be right there behind you, I promise.’

“And she really was, like she really was right there behind him.”

Sarah recalled her parents being very cautious toward Covid-19 and before the camping trip, they made sure to be fully vaccinated.

“I’m angry because so many people are like, ‘if I catch COVID, I catch COVID that’s what it is.’ No, it’s not,” said Sarah.

“It could be any person; it could be anybody.

“They did everything right, they did everything to protocol the way it should be done.”

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of the couple’s funeral.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), unvaccinated people are ten times more likely to be hospitalized and are eleven times more likely to die from the virus.

It is not yet known how long vaccines protect against Covid-19.

As of today, more than 700,000 people have died from coronavirus in the United States.
