Jabs Army helped save lives – we need you again for booster Covid jab rollout

THE impact of the vaccination drive can be seen in our everyday lives.

It has enabled us to return to doing the things we love — from spending time with friends and family again to heading through the turnstile on a Saturday to watch the football.

Sun readers have been the NHS’s biggest champions – from getting the jab themselves to joining the wonderful Jab’s Army campaign

Throughout the vaccination rollout, Sun readers have been our biggest champions, from getting the jab themselves to joining the wonderful Jabs’ Army campaign — you have helped us save lives.

So far, NHS staff have prevented more than 24 million infections, 479,000 hospital admissions and saved 130,000 lives.

But the challenges for the NHS and for our country are not over yet.

Infections are on the rise and our services are experiencing huge demand.

So, once again, we need your help with the next phase of the vaccination drive.

In the space of just two days of Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation guidance coming into place, the next phase of the NHS vaccination programme started.

People started to get their top-up booster jabs.

Since September 16, thanks to the efforts of staff and people coming forward when they are invited, we have vaccinated more than 4.04 million people — an average of one million a week.

In excess of 1.9 million people will receive their invitation to come forward for their booster jab this week, as more people become eligible.

Even if you have not yet received your invitation, as long as it’s been more than six months since your second dose, you can book your booster by going to the online National Booking Service or you can call 119.

We are urging Sun readers to book your booster once eligible and encourage your friends and family to do the same once they are invited.

It will give you and those that you love extra protection against the virus as we go into the winter.

We know there are several million people who are yet to get their first dose.

If you are one of them, please get booked today, or if you know of someone yet to take up the offer, please encourage them to join the tens of millions who are already protected by it.

Thank you to Sun readers for helping us with the crucial NHS vaccination programme.

And don’t forget, if you have been invited or it’s been longer than six months since your second vaccine dose, please go online to the National Booking Service or call 119 and book your booster.
