A FOUR-year-old girl died in her sleep just one day after she and her unvaccinated mum tested positive for Covid-19.
The death of Kali Cook was confirmed by health officials in Galveston County, Texas, who said it was the first coronavirus child-related death in the area.
Her heartbroken mom Karra Harwood said she had been an anti-vaxxer but following the tragedy she wished she never had been.
In a touching tribute Karra said: “We are all so broken and lost and just trying to figure out how we are gonna get [through] this life without her light.”
“She was so funny and sassy,” added Karra. “She wasn’t your average little girl. She’d rather play with worms and frogs than wear bows. She was just so pretty and full of life.”
A spokesperson for the Galveston County Health District said: “The young girl, age range 0-10 years, passed away on September 7.
“This is the youngest Covid-19 related death the health district has reported and the first in someone 10 and younger.”
Karra, from Bacliff, told the Daily News she and her family regretted their decision not to get the Covid jab.
She said: “I was one of the people that was anti [vaxx], I was against it. Now, I wish I never was.”
The devastated mom said the family had been in quarantine after she had tested positive for the deadly virus Monday.
She added she had tried to stay away from her daughter as she didn’t want her to catch the disease and added she had no diagnosed immune disorders or other health conditions.
Then at around 2am Tuesday Kali developed a fever and Karra gave her some medicine for it.

Sadly though by 7am the youngster had died in her sleep.
Karra has since launched a fundraising page for her little girl which has so far raised $16,000.
She wrote: “Our beautiful baby girl gained her wings this morning. Her heart was too pure for this cruel world and God decided he needed another beautiful angel on his side.
“We are all so broken and lost and just trying to figure out how we are gonna get threw [sic] this life without her light.
“Our family has Covid and is out of work due to it, so we are overly stressed and hurting. Anything will help and Kali would be so thankful to rest in comfort and wait to see us all again.”
