THE return of Jeffrey Toobin to CNN has sparked anger after the legal analyst was caught masturbating on a Zoom call in October of last year.
Toobin, 60, was fired from The New Yorker for his shocking behavior during a meeting about a presidential election podcast for WNYC and the magazine.
While The New Yorker made the decision to fire Toobin outright, CNN only granted him a leave of absence until yesterday.
Following that decision The View’s Meghan McCain tweeted: “This is garbage. Why does the media protect these old white male dinosaurs in this industry?”
She went on to point out that a woman would not have received the same treatment.
“No woman on PLANET EARTH would be welcomed back on network tv after being caught masturbating in front of her colleagues.”
Her criticism was echoed by other conservative voices like Megyn Kelly, who tweeted, “There is not a woman alive who could have done anything close to what Jeffrey Toobin did (not that one would) and kept her job.
“What a disgusting, incestuous boys’ club. So damned tired of it.”
But the former New Yorker journalist is not the only one to have been caught out on Zoom since the onset of the pandemic.
JEFFREY TOOBIN SCANDAL
Former CNN anchor Jeffrey Toobin hit the headlines in 2020 after he was caught masturbating on a Zoom call about a presidential election podcast for WNYC and The New Yorker.
On June 10, 2021, Toobin made his first CNN appearance since the scandal and admitted he “wasn’t thinking”.
The Zoom meeting held on October 15, 2020, was about a presidential election podcast for WNYC and The New Yorker.
According to his colleagues, Toobin allegedly angled the computer camera, touched himself, and blew kisses at someone who wasn’t one of his coworkers.
Shortly after the incident, Toobin apologized in a statement saying, ” I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera.
“I apologize to my wife, family, friends, and co-workers.”
POLITICIAN ‘PEES ON CAMERA’ WEEKS AFTER NAKED ZOOM MEETING
A Canadian lawmaker was last month caught with his pants down again, this time “peeing on camera” during a parliamentary session.
Liberal Party MP William Amos, 46, who represents the Quebec district of Pontiac, acknowledged Thursday he had “urinated without realizing I was on camera” during parliamentary proceedings the previous evening.
“While accidental and not visible to the public, this was completely unacceptable and I apologize unreservedly,” added Amos.
Amos had been recorded on April 14 in the nude during a virtual session of the House of Commons, something he claimed was was “an unfortunate error.”
In his statement he said he would now “seek assistance” and step away from his role as parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry.
Amos did not elaborate on exactly what assistance he was seeking.
TEACHER SUCKS MAN’S NIPPLE DURING CLASS
In May it was reported a New York City teacher was caught sucking a topless man’s nipple and gyrating in front of a kids on a Zoom lesson.
Amanda K. Fletcher, 37, allegedly performed an “inappropriate sexual act” while she was supposed to be teaching at Columbia Secondary School for Math, Science, and Engineering in New York.
Special Commissioner of Investigation (SCI) for city schools said students where watching a live class when they witnessed Fletcher “eating spaghetti” with a shirtless man.
And then the class witnessed the Spanish teacher appearing to “suck the nipple of an unidentified topless male” while “gyrating” or “rocking back and forth”.
She then resumed teaching and discussing a worksheet after taking her mouth off the man’s chest, reports The New York Post.
The incident took place on September 30, two weeks after the city opened the new school year with remote classes.
MOM SEEN NAKED DURING SON’S CLASS
In October last year an unidentified mom was seen naked on her son’s Zoom class.
The youngster – named only as Tayvion – was listening to his teacher when his mother appeared on the screen.
“Oh my God, who is that back there naked?’ Turn your camera off, Tayvion,” the teacher can be heard telling the boy.
The boy’s mom quickly runs off screen when she realizes she can be seen.
TEACHER’S AIDE CAUGHT MASTURBATING ON SCREEN
A teacher’s aide was in February caught masturbating during an 8th grade Zoom class.
Marc Shack said the incident at Shady Grove Middle School in Gaithersburg, Maryland had been an accident after he exposed himself on screen.
He said: “I thought I was logged out when class was over. I had no clue that Zoom was still on. Why would I do that? That’s my job. I had no clue that Zoom was on. I mean, that’s just crazy behavior.’
“I’m only human. It was my bad.
“I’m not a pervert or anything like that, you know. You gotta believe me on that. I thought I was in the privacy of my own home. I had no clue.”
UNI OFFICIAL TAKES A NAKED BATH
A University of Nevada official was forced to resign last month following reports he appeared naked in the bath on Zoom in February.
Joshua Wolf Shenk said: “I crossed a line that I can’t walk back over.
“I sorely regret the harm to you — and, by extension, to the people we serve. I’m sorry.”
The former Believer magazine editor-in-chief called his decision “a dumb, reckless choice to disregard appropriate setting and attire for a Zoom meeting.”
OFFICIAL’S WIFE APPEARS NAKED ON SCREEN
A South African official was forced to apologize in April after his wife appeared on screen naked.
Xolile Ndevu had been part of a discussion on COVID-19 when the mishap took place.
He said: “I’m very sorry. I was focusing on the camera and not behind me. I’m so embarrassed.’
“This Zoom technology is new to us and we were never trained.”
