THE Covid-19 pandemic is far from over as the virus continues to mutate and create new strains, causing more cases and hospitalizations.
As the Delta and Mu variants continues to spread across the country, many are finding themselves contracting the virus despite being vaccinated.
Does Chris Rock have Covid?
On September 19, 2021, American stand-up comedian and actor Chris Rock revealed to his fans that he tested positive for Covid.
In a tweet, Rock said: “Hey guys I just found out I have COVID, trust me you don’t want this. Get vaccinated.”
Rock’s diagnosis is considered a breakthrough case because he got the virus after being fully vaccinated.
What is a breakthrough case?
A breakthrough case occurs when a person who has been fully vaccinated becomes infected with the coronavirus.
While the Covid-19 vaccinations don’t fully prevent someone from contracting the virus, studies have shown that symptoms aren’t as severe and the risk of hospitalization is much lower.
Many celebrities have been using their platforms to promote the positives of getting the vaccine in hopes that more people will.
What has Chris Rock said about the Covid-19 vaccine?
Despite being a comedian, Rock has been taking the Covid-19 pandemic “very seriously,” and was even seen on CBS Sunday Morning back in January doing an interview with Gayle King outside his home as an extra precaution.
But like all good comedians, he eventually made light of the situation during an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and revealed that he had gotten the vaccination.
“I didn’t care. I used my celebrity, Jimmy,” he joked to Fallon back in May. “I was like Billy Zane on the Titanic. Leo [DiCaprio] died. Billy Zane lived to see another day. I don’t want to be Leo at the bottom of the ocean. Billy Zane got another woman after that thing. In reality, you want to be Leo — but not in that movie.”
He later revealed that he received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine joking, “that’s the food stamps of vaccines.”
