Can I go on holiday to Bulgaria?

From Monday 19 July, Bulgaria will be on the green list that allows Brits to travel to the European country without the need to quarantine upon their return.

But British people will still NOT be able to travel to Bulgaria after the UK was added to their red list.

It means that all arrivals are banned from entering the country, except for limited circumstances – with which holidays do not count.

What are the travel restrictions for Bulgaria?

British holidaymakers will not be able to travel to Bulgaria even if they are vaccinated.

The United Kingdom will be placed on their own red list from July 19 – coinciding with Freedom Day in Britain.

There are exceptions to the rule including those that are medical professionals or seasonal workers.

But holidays have been struck off and Brits are advised to speak to their airline or tour operator with regards to cancellations.

The UK is not the only country to be considered red zone countries by Bulgaria with Cyprus, Spain, Fiji and Kuwait also being added.

Brits are being advised to check the Foreign Office’s advice before travelling abroad with many countries having their own version of Britain’s traffic light system.

The latest changes follows after 50,000 daily Covid cases were recorded for the first time since mid-January in the UK on Friday.
