A BRITISH-made “Covid alarm” can detect the disease in a crowded room within 15 minutes.
The smoke alarm-sized ceiling gadget could go in classrooms, workplaces and care homes after it was shown to have a 98 to 100 per cent accuracy.

That makes it as reliable as PCR lab tests and much more so than rapid home tests.
It was developed by Cambridge firm Roboscientific and tracks molecules released by people with Covid, taking 15 minutes to send results to a smartphone.
The gadget, undergoing trials at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, is expected to cost £5,000.
A handheld version to screen people in two minutes is in development.
