Young Woman's Journey from Tonsillitis to Cancer Diagnosis

Chloe Reid's Battle with 'Silent' Cancer

Chloe Reid, 23, initially thought the tiredness and lump on her neck were remnants of tonsillitis. However, just weeks after her 21st birthday, she received a devastating diagnosis of blood cancer.

Doctors had initially attributed the lump to an infection following tonsillitis, but as it grew, Chloe's concerns heightened, overshadowing her milestone birthday celebrations.

Despite the challenges that came with the diagnosis, Chloe faced her treatment with courage and determination, supported by her family and boyfriend.

Ups and Downs of Treatment

Chloe underwent chemotherapy and hormone treatment to freeze her eggs to preserve her future fertility. The journey was marked by emotional turmoil, physical changes, and the unwavering support of loved ones.

After a setback following her initial chemotherapy, Chloe continued her fight against cancer and finally completed her treatment in September 2023, symbolized by a tattoo of the significant date on her arm.

Funding Life-Saving Research

Now in remission, Chloe has been selected to launch Cancer Research UK's Race for Life in Scotland, aiming to raise awareness and support for vital cancer research. Her boyfriend, Jack, stands by her side, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in the face of adversity.

Chloe and Jack invite others to join them in the 5k race, highlighting the impact of cancer on individuals and the significance of supporting ongoing research efforts.

Through their journey, Chloe and Jack hope to inspire others to participate in the Race for Life events and contribute to the fight against cancer.
