Nadia Sawalha's bold move

Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha recently made a daring statement by going topless outside Parliament in a plea to push for a pioneering cancer drug to be approved by the NHS. Alongside 30 other women, Sawalha aimed to catch the attention of the new Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, urging action to be taken for the drug.

The campaign for Enhertu

The group of 31 women, including Sawalha, painted their chests to represent the number of lives lost to metastatic breast cancer each day in the UK. They are advocating for Enhertu, a drug that could offer women with advanced and incurable breast cancer more time with their loved ones, even months or years.

The battle for approval

Despite being available in Scotland and several European countries, Enhertu was blocked for widespread NHS use in England and Wales in March due to cost concerns. The drug, known as trastuzumab deruxtecan, could benefit up to 1,000 women per year in England alone.

A plea for action

Sawalha and her fellow campaigners are urging the government to reconsider and approve Enhertu, emphasizing the urgency for many women whose lives could be positively impacted by the drug. They refuse to stay silent and are determined to make their voices heard until a decision is made.

Raising awareness and demanding change

Through their powerful demonstration outside Parliament, these women are not only advocating for a life-changing drug but also shedding light on the disparities in healthcare access within the UK. Their message is clear: it's time for action, and every life counts in the fight against breast cancer.
