Heartbreaking Story of Schoolboy Who Passed Away from Brain Tumour

Tragic Loss

A schoolboy, Luke Poga, tragically passed away from a deadly form of cancer after a noticeable change in his appearance. His weight doubled in 16 months, which his mother Sam attributed to a lack of exercise during lockdown.

Diagnosis and Battle

When Luke started to experience sore eyes, it led to a diagnosis of a brain tumour. Despite receiving combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment, the cancer was too aggressive, and Luke sadly lost his battle in 2024.

Raising Awareness

Following Luke's passing, his schoolmates and community have come together to raise money for Brain Tumour Research by walking 10,000 steps every day in February. Sam, Luke's mother, is also participating in the challenge to help find a cure for all types of brain tumours.

Importance of Research

Dr. Karen Noble from Brain Tumour Research emphasized the importance of increased investment in research to better understand how tumours develop, improve detection methods, and access better treatments. The community's support for Luke and his family has been truly incredible.
