Christa Seubert, an 84-year-old grandmother, has become the oldest person in the world to be fitted with a bionic arm.
Regaining Independence
Christa Seubert, known for her active lifestyle which included gardening, handicrafts, cycling, and walking her dog, Charley, faced a major setback when she lost her arm to cancer in January. Simple daily tasks became challenging for her, like cutting a loaf of bread or buttering it on her own.
A Life-Changing Solution
However, everything changed for Christa when she was fitted with a Hero Arm by UK company Open Bionics. Just an hour after her appointment, she was able to use her bionic limb to take Charley for a walk and even enjoy a hot chocolate in a café.
Christa, who hails from Würzburg, Germany, expressed her joy, saying, "Now I can butter bread and cut a slice of cheese. I won't have to ask for help with everything anymore."
Lightweight and Easy to Use
The Hero Arm, recommended by APT Prothesen's chief product officer Mathias Stegemann who fitted Christa's new bionic arm, offers significant advantages. It is lightweight, making it comfortable to wear, and is easy to put on and take off. Stegemann believes that the Hero Arm will enable Christa to regain her independence and enjoy her daily activities.
