Former model back at work after 'mother of all cancer surgeries'

A former model, Faye Louise, defied all odds after undergoing a life-changing surgery that involved the removal of eight organs. The 39-year-old started to plan her own funeral two years ago when doctors discovered a tumour in her appendix, but she is now cancer-free and back at work.

From funeral planning to cancer-free

Faye Louise's journey began when doctors found a tumour in her appendix, leading to the removal of her uterus, ovaries, appendix, greater and lesser omentum, gall bladder, fallopian tubes, and sections of her liver. After receiving the news that there was no evidence of disease, she described it as the 'greatest Christmas gift'.

Back to work and embracing life

Despite the physical challenges of her job as a flight dispatcher at Gatwick Airport, Faye is thrilled to be back in the role she loves. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, "Some days I have been down to the depths of despair, but more often than not now, I’m having more positive days."

Spreading awareness and giving back

Faye, from Horsham, West Sussex, has not only conquered her own battle with cancer but has also raised funds for Cancer Research UK by participating in the Race for Life in Brighton. Her resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to many.
